The Chase star Paul Sinha gives Parkinson's health update as he tells fans 'cherish life'

The Chase star Paul Sinha told viewers to "cherish life" as he appeared on Friday's Loose Women to discuss having Parkinson's disease.

Paul, 51, was diagnosed with the progressive nervous system disorder in May 2019, but told the Loose Women panel that he is "fighting fit".

Lead panelist Kaye Adams began the chat by saying: "It's Parkinson's Awareness Week this week Paul, can I ask how you are?"

"I'm fine to be honest with you, I was diagnosed in 2019 which was a bit of shock to the system having spent two years with a troublesome right shoulder," The Chaser replied.

"But to be perfectly honest with you, Covid has been more part of my life than Parkinson's because Parkinson's is quite a slow process compared to a global pandemic," Paul continued.

"So I've had more worries with Covid than Parkinson's because I'm not quite where I was two years ago for sure but I'm still fighting fit."

Kaye then asked: "What was it like with the shoulder? Was that linked to the Parkinson's?"

"Well apparently," he replied, before adding: "Please don't panic if you've got a frozen shoulder by the way, but apparently a frozen shoulder is a relatively common presentation of Parkinson's disease.

"But for a year and a half I only saw orthopedics specialists, not neurological specialists," Paul revealed.

When asked what advice he would give to others who think they may be showing symptoms, Paul said: "In general terms if you have anything that you're worried, the NHS is still one of the greatest things we have and it's there for you and you've paid your taxes to use it so.

Paul is best-known for appearing on ITV gameshow The Chase (ITV)

"Go and see your GP, if you're worried about any aspect of your health, go and seek help. Don't sit on the problem like I did for a few months," he added.

Paul also showed the panel his hands and said he has a "mild tremor" on one said, but stressed that it's "not the presenting complication in a lot of people's cases".

As the show came to an end, Paul touched upon an earlier segment about visiting elderly relatives and told viewers: "Cherish life."

Viewers thoroughly enjoyed the interview and took to Twitter to comment, with one person writing: "I like Paul even more now #loosewomen."

And another person tweeted: "#LooseWomen The Chase wouldn’t be the same without Paul Sinha."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
