The Chase's 'The Beast' Mark Labbett storms off set and punches wall over defeat

The Chase 's Mark Labbett stormed off set after losing out to a team who managed to take home a huge jackpot of £21,000.

The genius congratulated the contestants for their win before leaving the studio and punching the wall on the way out.

Host Bradley Walsh immediately apologised for Mark's behaviour, telling viewers that isn't how people should deal with defeat.

When the game had finished and Mark had failed to catch the team, he said: "Well played guys, you deserve it – I’m off."

Looking shocked, Bradley said: "I apologise to all the kids watching. That’s not how you should take defeat. You should take it magnanimously and humbly."

Despite being polite to the contestants before leaving his chaser chair, Mark found it necessary to apologise to his fans through his social media following the programme.

Mark took to Twitter to issue and apology where he said his mental health at the time of recording wasn't very good.

He wrote: "Apologies to those of you disappointed with my behaviour tonight. My mental health was shot before that game, it was storm off or break down in tears. A remorseless diet of quality opponents didn’t help #thechase."

His fellow chaser colleague, Paul Sinha, known as The Sinnerman on the show sent his support for his friend.

Paul replied back: "You should never have to apologise for the crime of “being human”. I’d have been nowhere on those questions."

Despite the fiery exit, fans have supported Mark following his apology.

One viewer applauded his statement saying: "Mental health is the hardest thing for any individual to control. You were a superb teacher and are a great quizzer and tv personality. We all have bad days chin up mate. You will get through it and come out stronger."

Another said he didn't need to apologise, writing: "You do not need to apologise for being a human and experiencing emotions. For my entire 24 years of life, that’s all I’ve done – and it doesn’t make it any better, it just makes you feel more guilty. Thank you for acknowledging it, but don’t apologise."

A third commented: "Tbh you were kind and courteous to the team and their success then reacted angrily with yourself and that’s fine. It’s when the chaser is rude or short with the team that annoys me but you didn’t do that."

Mark has recently unveiled his impressive weight loss, managing to lose a total of ten stone.

At his heaviest, Mark tipped the scales at 29st but now weighs in at 19st.

He looked for a lifestyle change after being diagnosed with diabetes back in 2017 when a nurse noticed the skin on his legs wasn't healing properly.

Mark took this as the signal to change his habits, now weighing the least he has in 25 years.

The chaser cut down to two meals a day as well as lowering his sugar intake.
