The Chase fans warn of 'a scandal brewing' after spotting rule change

Fans of The Chase filled Twitter with complaints after a rules discrepancy giving the players an advantage.

Bradley Walsh welcomed four new players to the ITV quiz show. Emma, Tom, Jasmine and Joe went head to head with chaser Shaun Wallace in an attempt to win a cash prize.

Emma set the game of to a stellar start as she answered a very impressive 10 questions correctly in the cash builder round. She was praised by Bradley, while she made Shaun a bit nervous after accepting a middle offer of £10,000 and making it back to her team with a place in the final.

Bradley said: "Absolutely brilliant performance." He added: "First player up with ten, that's great for us." Shaun replied: "But not great for me."

And the game only continued to be strong as each and every player went on to secure a place in the final chase too. Joe secured £5,000 for the pot and Jasmine added £3,000.

Meanwhile, final player Tom added another £5,000. The strong team were all through to the final with £23,000 to play for and a four question head start.

They went on to set 16 questions for Shaun to answer. However, Bradley announced that they were given an extra question after he told them one was incorrect, but the show bosses decided that the answer could actually be accepted. He explained: "I have been told that Bento boxes way back in the day could well have been made from bamboo so we are going to accept bamboo."

But fans on Twitter were taken aback by the "change of rules" and complained. One user said: "Woah there's a scandal brewing #TheChase." Another user said: "#TheChase is so inconsistent with their rules."

Kathryn said: "So they’ll accept that bamboo was a right answer, but because they missed out ONE word of an answer it’s not allowed? This show is going to the dogs #TheChase" Abi said: "Is that a first? Allowing an answer after saying incorrect ? #TheChase".

The extra question worked in the team's favour as they defeated the chaser and went home with thousands of pounds in their pockets.
