The Chase fans left stunned as they spot royal connection between show's four contestants

The Chase viewers couldn't miss a royal connection between four contestants - but it seems not everyone was as switched on!

Bradley Walsh hosted Friday's ITV1 show and didn't seem to pick up on it until he was told.

The group were all keen to earn some cash by beating the Chasers - but some at home joked they probably don't need it!

Players Henry, Liz, Tudor and Mary are had a go at taking home the money.

They are of course all the names of a former monarch - and it wasn't even a Coronation special!

Usually alert Bradley appeared to not notice but it didn't escape the attention of those watching on their sofas.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "So #TheChase tonight on # ITV are having a laugh. Spot the connection in the names!"

Another wrote: "Royal event today,' while another agreed: 'Can't get over this lineup on #thechase very 16th century."

A third put: "Brad never noticed the names connection?"

Bradley remained oblivious to the connection until chaser Darragh Ennis pointed it out to him.

Having a little joke about contestant Mary's hobby of making cocktails, Darragh said: "Hello Mary, well considering the contestants' names today you have got a very appropriate hobby, you really are a bloody Mary". While Bradley looked on blankly, Darragh said: "Don't tell me you didn't spot it, Brad?"

Then the connection clicked and Bradley exclaimed: "Again! I've done it again! Tudor, Liz, Henry and Mary! What is the matter with me? Pay attention! There you are kings and queens of the Tudor era, brilliant."

This was not the first time Brad missed the names all having a connection as previously he failed to spot the song titles when the contestants were named Carmen, Eileen, Danny and Roy.

Chaser Shaun Wallace pointed it out to Bradley when he broke into song.

He said: "You can see from your names... 'Come on Eileen' - get it? Carmen - Eileen [referring to the Dexys Midnight Runners hit]. And the Londonderry Air - 'Oh Danny Roy...'"
