The Chase fans instantly 'recognise' Scouse contestant from ITV soap

The Chase fans were convinced they recognised a contestant from ITV soap Emmerdale during Tuesday's episode.

Bradley Walsh once again welcomed four new players on this week's second edition of the popular ITV programme. Toby, Becca, Sophia and Neil were testing their wits against one of Britain's biggest brains in a bid to win big money.

Toby, an events organiser from London, was first up to face The Vixen. He had a decent cash builder, making it back to the table with £5,000. Becca, a funeral celebrant from Marlow also made it back to the team with £5,000 after avoiding being caught by Jenny Ryan.

Third up was Sophia, a clinical scientist from Liverpool. She answered four questions correctly in her cash builder and managed to make it back to the table - but only just.

Some fans of the show said she was "lucky", but it was her appearance that had other viewers talking. Taking to Twitter, many thought they "recognised" her, believing she looks like a famous soap actress.

Faith said: "Sophia is the image of Debbie in Emmerdale #thechase", while Cheryl Scribens replied: "She is isn't she!". Polly said: "She looks like Sarah from Emmerdale" and then added: "Can see Debbie too"

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
