The Championship manager who thinks Nottingham Forest are better than Fulham

Nottingham Forest are a better team than promoted to the Premier League Fulham. Those are the words of Peterborough United manager Grant McCann as he prepares to welcome Steve Cooper's high-flying side to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday.

It is a meeting this weekend of two teams going through completely different emotions. At Forest, eyes are fixed firmly on cementing their place in the top six and - if results go in their favour - Cooper's side could have an extension to their season confirmed. For McCann's Peterborough, however, they know that they cannot afford to slip up and must win if they want to avoid being relegated back into League One.

Speaking ahead of the game, however, McCann was full of praise for his opposing number and even suggested his opponents are better than Fulham, whose return to the Premier League was confirmed during the week.

"Nottingham Forest are probably the best team in the league right now, I know Fulham have won the league, but in terms of the form of the Reds at present, I don’t think there is anyone better. Steve Cooper has done a really good job, since he took over they have been on a wonderful run and they will need the points to stay in contention.

"I think it is a really good game for us, like Barnsley and Blackburn, it is another team with plenty to play for. It should be a great atmosphere, hopefully the Posh fans will be bouncing."

When it comes down to recent form, McCann has a fair point. Forest sit atop the form tables for the past five, ten, 15, 20 and 25 Championship. Fulham pip them to the top of the form guide over the past 30 matches with 63 points in comparison to the Reds' tally of 59.
