Cancer campaigner Dame Deborah James died in June 2022, aged 40, after being diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer six years prior.
James, who was awarded a damehood last May for her tireless efforts in raising awareness of the disease, was committed to showing that it is possible to live a full life with cancer. At the time of writing, James’s BowelBabe fund has raised £11.3m for Cancer Research UK.
