While all indications point to another season of high-level play from veteran big man Al Horford, at the start of his age 36 season, his importance to the Boston Celtics has never been greater. For now, that will work for the team. In the not-so-distant future, however, they will need to have a plan in place to replace him when he ages out of his current role with the team.
The Florida alumnus may well ease into more of a support role if he remains with the team after this season when his current deal ends, and could well play at a high level for another season or two. The need for the Cs to evolve, however, remains.
The hosts of the “First to the Floor” podcast recently broached this question on an episode with guest Eric Weiss of Luceo Sports.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
