Patrick Mahomes was obviously the NFL’s MVP this season.
But one voter for the NFL’s most valuable player didn’t forget about Damar Hamlin and the person who helped save the Buffalo Bills’ safety’s life.
As many people reported on Thursday after Mahomes’ win at the NFL Honors ceremony, Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington — who was among those who saved Hamlin’s life — received a fifth-place vote for MVP. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that vote came from colleague Suzy Kolber.
A terrific tribute to a man who really was the most valuable in a life-saving situation. And Kolber talked about it last month, as you’ll see below:
Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington performed lifesaving CPR on Damar Hamlin on the field.
He ended up receiving a 5th place vote for the NFL’s MVP award, a sign of respect and appreciation for him.

The vote came from @SuzyKolber, who said it was a “symbolic gesture representing ‘everyone’ who carries the weight of that job, every week. They rarely get the recognition they deserve.”

Love it.
