The Big Breakfast is back on Channel 4 with a new house and award winning presenters

The Big Breakfast is back on screens today for the first of four live summer episodes.

The 90s show ran on Channel 4 for 10 years between 1992 and 2002, featuring presenters including Chris Evans, Gaby Roslin, Zoe Ball, Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan.

Now the series returns with a new house for four summer episodes hosted by Mo Gilligan and Aj Odudu. Mo and AJ teamed up for a one-off Big Breakfast reboot in September 2021, as part of Channel 4's "Black to Front", a project which saw all programming fronted by black presenters and contributors for a day.

Comedian Mo and presenter AJ won a Royal Television Society Award for their Big Breakfast partnership and are excited to bring the show back for four Saturdays this summer.

They will be joined by Judi Love for the On the Bed Interviews with celebrities, while Melvin Odoom and Harriet Rose will be hitting the UK's streets to play games with members of the public, and Phil Gayle has been signed up to deliver the news headlines.

When is the Big Breakfast back on TV

The Big Breakfast returns at 10am on Saturday August 13. Broadcast live on Channel 4 and All 4, the show runs for two and a half hours, finishing at 12.30pm.

Who are the Big Breakfast presenters?

Comedian Mo Gilligan and presenter AJ Odudu front the Big Breakfast in 2022. Judi Love returns to grill guests in On The Bed Interviews. Melvin Odoom and Harriet Rose will be out and about on the streets of the UK playing games with members of the public and Big Breakfast newsreader Phil Gayle returns to deliver the morning’s headlines.

AJ said: "We can expect a new house for a start. We’ve upgraded it, so it’s going to be even bigger and brighter this time round. There’s more chaos, more competitions and just more vibes!

Comic and Lateish Show star Mo said : "Expect a lot of crazy anarchy for the start of the morning. We want to keep people tuned in for as long as possible, so there’ll be some cool surprises. And of course, games."

The reboot will also build on the diversity from the Black to Front special in 2021.

AJ expains: "We’ll have a diverse team too – obviously, we’ve got this show beyond the Black to Front special now, but we’ve maintained the diversity of the crew and the cast. I think it's going to really start to represent a part of the audience who are going to be able to see and recognise themselves a lot more on the telly. It’s going to be a show that’s for everyone."

The team has also sought advice from the 1990s Big Breakfast stars.

"I spoke to Chris Evans on his radio show about doing the show and he said that hosting the show was one of the happiest times in his life," says Mo.

"He really enjoyed last year’s special and was looking forward to the series, which meant a lot coming from him. He was a massive part of the show. He was one of my presenting inspirations growing up. He just had this unique wackiness about him and when presenting a show, was just able to effortlessly pop up all over the set."

How many Big Breakfast episodes will there be?

Channel 4 will broadcast four live Big Breakfast episodes on consecutive Saturdays this summer. The four-week run starts on Saturday August 13. The final episode of the series will be screened on Saturday September 3, 2022.
