There have been more than 100 Stephen King adaptations, which is quite a feat when you consider that the author has "only" penned 65 books. With filmmakers taking multiple stabs at the likes of fan favorites It and Carrie and controversial classics like The Shining, there are a ton of movies and TV shows out there based on the King of Horror's works.
The prolific pen-wielder is still hard at work as well, with his most recent short story collection, You Like It Darker, only having been released in May 2024. With that, it doesn't look like Hollywood is going to run out of inspiration anytime soon. Good thing, too, since it's producing more adaptations than ever before; in 2025 alone, we've had The Monkey, The Life of Chuck, The Long Walk, The Institute, and It: Welcome to Derry, and we'll soon see Edgar Wright's The Running Man speed into cinemas.
