After a week watching the new crop of collections from the haute couture houses of Paris stream out onto runways, today marks the glittering finale.
Bi-annually, months of intricate handiwork culminate in the most lavish shows which attract a crowd of celebrities, international high society and couture clients keeping an eye out for their next look.
On Monday, proceedings began with a gilded gold bang at Schiaparelli. Couture’s darling Daniel Roseberry, the masion’s creative director, welcomed a star-studded audience for the show which counted Emma Watson, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer and singer Rina Sawayama among its f’row.
Also sat together on the front row were models Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge and Chiara Ferragni, all dressed in Roseberry’s surrealist creations. Rita Ora made an appearance in a silver crystal bralette, as did the Princess of Thailand Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who dressed down in ultra-high waist jeans and matching denim jacket with gold button embellishments.
In the early afternoon, couture week attendees made their way to see Maria Grazia-Chiuri’s Christian Dior offering. Singer Celeste lead the way, dressed in a black, layered tulle dress with opera gloves from the brand’s 2023 Cruise collection. Actress Sigourney Weaver and model Elle Macpherson joined her, both opting for dresses from the house.
The day’s shows were rounded off by Giambattista Valli, the tulle-heavy, full length train-loving house, which never fails to bring some dramatic dressing to the week. Robbie Williams was a surprise guest on the f’row. He arrived in a black cape dress with his wife Ayda Field Williams, before taking his seat alongside Mexican actress Eiza González. He was joined there by Sabrina Elba, who was a vision in a salmon pink tulle strapless dress by the designer.
The Chanel show was Tuesday’s hot ticket, and Keira Knightley and husband James Righton led the way. The actress and face of the brand’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume looked elegant as ever in a black Chanel dress with lace details and velvet ribbon tied around the neck. She added a pair of wide black shades and a leather clutch to finish the style.
On Wednesday, the talk of the town was Balenciaga, who attracted a legendary model line-up counting Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell and Bella Hadid. All were snapped making their entrances and exits to the couture house’s salon. Sat supporting on the F’row sidelines was Kidman’s husband Keith Urban, and Kardashian’s mother Kris and daughter North West. Full house! Later in the evening, a Balenciaga dinner attracted them all back, clad in black, for celebrations.
Also showing last night was Jean Paul Gaultier, which this season was guest designed by Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing. Kardashian took her seat, with North, alongside a preened Anna Wintour, while footballer Neymar snuggled up to models Jourdann Dunn and Coco Rocha to enjoy the spectacle.
The week rounds off today but with Fendi still to show, the best may be yet to come.
