The Boston Celtics’ sole move at the 2023 NBA trade deadline was to deal for veteran Oklahoma City Thunder big man Mike Muscala. The ball club sent deep rotation forward Justin Jackson, Jr. and a pair of second round picks to the Thunder in order to acquire the services of Muscala this season and perhaps next if the Celtics are happy with the idea of the OKC center’s team option for the 2023-24 season.
This was by and large seen as a good move for the Celtics to secure a big man capable of starting but happy to come off of the bench with size and knockdown 3-point shooting to boot.
But many fans of the team are not especially familiar with Muscala’s game, or how he might fit into the Celtics’ offense under interim head coach Joe Mazzulla.
