The best looks from Meghan Markle’s £38,000 Invictus Games wardrobe

Prince Harry appeared close to tears at the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games.

It could have been wife Meghan’s touching speech in which she referred to him as a "loving father" and war veteran. It could have been months, nay years, of hard work coming together. Or perhaps, it was the glint from Meghan’s diamond Cartier choker suddenly reminding him of the Amex bill coming their way at the end of the month. Whatever it was, we didn’t much care. We were too busy googling where to buy Meghan’s ruched off-the-shoulder bodysuit. Khaite, if you were wondering.

The games in The Hague - the couple’s first joint appearance this side of the pond since they ditched the The Firm - was chock-a-block with photo opportunities and big style moments. In her first public outing back on European soil since quitting the Royal Family in 2020, Meghan did not disappoint and her wardrobe was a smorgasbord of designer royalty from Valentino to Manolo Blahnik.

Below are her best looks, but with a cumulative £38,000 price tag, you might be better off waiting until the high street rips them off before planning your sports day outfit inspo.

The Power Suit

Meghan kicked off proceedings with a bang, arriving on Friday in The Hague in a double-breasted white Valentino suit (£3200), channelling Bianca Jagger’s wedding outfit — and actually Mick Jagger’s, come to think of it. Keeping the wedding theme going, Meghan paired the double breasted jacket and tailored trousers with the same white Aquazzura stilettos she wore to her own wedding in 2018. Meghan finished off the look with an off-white Valentino bag (£2200)and a dusting of gold hand jewellery from Brooklyn brand Catbird.

The smart-caj ensemble

The next day, Meghan shed the power shoulders and donned some tweed as is customary to watch a Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge. If the Duchess’s day two outfit was a hairstyle it would be a mullet; business on the top, party on the bottom. Meghan paired her chic black Celine jacket (£2,400) and matching calf skin “Triomphe” bag (£1950) with a classic white t-shirt and faded Moussy Vintage jeans (£340). The whole look was polished off with a pair of classic Chanel ballet pumps (£660), smart-caj at its finest.

The Mini

Casting an eye over her Invictus Games colour palette, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Duchess was on her way to one of P-Diddy’s infamous white parties. Discarding her earlier faded denim, Meghan opted again for an all-white Valentino number, this time an embroidered mini dress (£3,600). She finished the look off with a pair of neutral, dark-brown Manolos (£515) and a lick of crimson lipstick.

White-belt champion

Keeping with the neutral theme, Meghan chose another jacket and jeans combo, pairing a belted ivory-toned Brandon Maxwell jacket (£1,944) with another pair of washed-denim jeans, but this time with a suede Manolo heel (£515). She kept the collar popped up in the sloane ranger fashion, perhaps as an ode to her rugger-loving husband.

The body-con

Last and absolutely not least, we return to Meghan’s ruched bodysuit. The Duchess closed the Invictus Games opening ceremony in a near-perfect look, pairing a Khaite bodysuit with a pair of elegant tailored black trousers, a pair of polka-dotted Manolos and the pièce de résistance: a diamond-encrusted, yellow gold Cartier necklace (£10,600). Despite the price tag, there was nothing flashy-flashy bling-bling about it.
