The best Genshin Impact Anemo characters aren’t just supports, though that’s mostly what they do. Anemo is a catalyst element that triggers powerful reactions, but in the right hands, it wears enemies down on its own and can erode even formidable bosses in no time. Some Anemo characters suffer from being a little too supportive, though, to the point where they don’t really have a place on your team unless you were lucky enough to recruit certain characters.
Our Genshin Impact Anemo characters list lays out what makes these windy warriors so good and where the worst ones fall short.
Anemo Traveler
The Anemo Traveler sure is the first character HoYoverse gives us. They’re okay and do a decent job of teaching us combat basics and how Anemo works. That’s about it, though. They have no support utilities for the rest of the party, and their skills need good aiming to work well. Even then, the area of effect is so small that you might trap one or two enemies in an Anemo vortex while the remaining half dozen or so keep attacking.
Heizou
I like Heizou, but he’s not easy to use compared to the competition. His Heartstopper attack can deal an impressive amount of damage, and so can the whirlwind his ultimate kicks up. The problem is aiming it. If an enemy moves during your setup, then you just wasted a skill and the prep work that went into whatever reaction you tried pulling off.
Lynette
There’s nothing really wrong with Lynette, especially if you have Furina, one of the best Hydro characters and a fighter who benefits from allies whose HP fluctuates. She just doesn’t do anything that makes her vital for any Anemo-needing party. What hampers her even further is how carefully you have to plan around her kit. Lynette has a long cooldown timer and high energy cost.
Sayu
Sayu should be excellent, with her strong elemental attacks and dual-action healing-and-damaging burst. The problem is that HoYoverse split her scaling so the Daruma her burst creates only benefits from elemental mastery once you unlock her sixth constellations. Until then, Sayu’s skill is the main way to deal damage, and her off-field support is limited to healing.
Faruzan
Faruzan is a bit more complicated than some, and her usefulness really depends on your team. Her burst takes some careful aiming, or it’s easy to miss enemies entirely, the way the Anemo structure she creates moves around. However, it shreds enemy Anemo resistance, and her third passive talent increases Anemo characters’ power when they use any attack. She’s ostensibly meant as a support for Wanderer, but she works for any Anemo DPS. If you don’t use one, though, Faruzan’s not gonna do you many favors.
Wanderer
Wanderer looks excellent on the surface. He deals an exceptional amount of damage and can even fly, sort of. The devil’s in the details, though. Wanderer’s skill and burst scaling are pretty low, so he needs a fair bit of extra help to bump his damage numbers up or someone like Faruzan for support. He’s also prone to interruptions, so he needs a shield to stay in action. With the right setup, though, he’s a powerful DPS.
Jean
Jean is an excellent healer and a reliable source of Anemo to help support your party. Her skill pushes enemies away, though it does pull them in firat at least. Jean’s burst heals the party continuously and applies Anemo in a wide area. While her energy cost is high, you can use Jean’s normal attacks to heal the entire party as well. Her final talent restores 20 percent of her energy after the burst activates anyway.
Xiao
Xiao is a strong DPS, but like other strong DPS characters, you have to design a careful team around him. Xiao has to stay on-field the whole time, which means only characters with lingering elemental skills will work well with him. He does deal a fair amount of damage, though, and since his burst saps HP, he works particularly well with Furina and her burst.
Venti
Venti’s fallen a bit as Genshin Impact evolved. While the bard’s ability to trigger reactions and reduce elemental resistances is as powerful as ever, he’s got serious competition. That competition is a bit more effective as well, since Venti’s cooldowns are a little long. Still, his skill is excellent for exploration, and he’s one of the best at grouping enemies.
Sucrose
Sucrose is like a mini-Venti and has so much to offer any team. Her skill has multiple charges, her burst groups enemies and absorbs elements, and her talents give the party a hefty elemental mastery boost. The downside is that she has long cooldown times and a high energy cost. Her constellations help mitigate the issues, and since she’s a 4-star, you have a decent chance of getting more Sucrose copies the longer you play.
Kazuha
Kazuha is one of the best characters in Genshin Impact, one of the only ones who mixes support, sub-DPS, and main DPS utilities. His skill groups enemies and deals extra elemental damage, and it gives him a little boost in the air that’s helpful in the open world. His burst creates a field that triggers multiple Swirl reactions and absorbs elements, and his third passive talent gives the party a damage boost that scales on Kazuha’s elemental mastery. Higher EM means he deals more damage too, so it’s a win-win situation.
His skill cooldown is short, and his burst has low energy costs as well. There’s really just no going wrong with Kazuha.
