The best Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals on Amazon so far

Deals season is here, and Amazon is celebrating early with some Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals on a broad variety of games. While Nintendo itself isn’t getting in on the action yet, we’ve got deals from Square Enix, Bandai, Ubisoft, and Sega on everything from Persona and Digimon to Mario + Rabbids, musical Final Fantasy, and more. All of these are physical copies, so if you’re looking for digital deals, you’ll have to wait a little while longer.

We’ll update this piece as more Black Friday deals roll out.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 - $24.98

Before Pokemon and Persona, there was Shin Megami Tensei, a philosophical monster-catcher where your companions want to eat your soul – and probably will, if you backtalk them too often. Questions of life and the nature of existence sit alongside petty school rivalries as you fight to save the world or dethrone god and reshape it in your own image. If that sounds like your kind of thing, you can get it for $24.98.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - $29.99

The best collection of Final Fantasy music is going for $29.99Final Bar Line gathers music from every Final Fantasy game, including Final Fantasy 16, and throws in classic tunes from other Square games like Xenogears and NieR.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope - $14.99

This Sparks of Hope deal is probably one of the best so far. Ubisoft’s improved version of Kingdom Battle, with smarter tactics and more ambitious battles, is down to $14.99. For a game that’s barely a year old, that’s a pretty good deal.

Persona 5 Strikers - $29.99

Part two of the Phantom Thieves’ adventure is going for $29.99 on Amazon. Atlus opted for a Warriors-style approach, with the Thieves taking down hundreds of shadows in fast-paced action combat. The story is a worthy sequel to the original Persona 5, and the action translates surprisingly well to a new genre. If you don’t mind shopping off Amazon, Best Buy has it for $19.99 as well.

Octopath Traveler 2 - $39.99

Another sale means another chance to pick up Octopath Traveler 2 at a discount, this time for $39.99. Square Enix’s bigger-and-better sequel effortlessly recaptures the golden age of RPGs and adds a welcome touch of modern convenience and improved storytelling into the mix. It might not appear at The Game Awards, but it’s still one of 2023’s best games.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - $23.73

One of the most unique RPGs is over 50 percent off, going for $23.73. Studio Ghibli and Level-5 teamed up to create what’s essentially a Ghibli movie in playable form. While there are some balance issues, an abundance of heart more than makes up for it.

Digimon Survive

Bandai ventured into visual novel territory with Digimon Survive and threw in a small splash of tactics for good measure. A group of students gets tossed into the digital world, and your choices will determine whether they make it out alive – and in what shape. You can grab it for $18.99.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition - $24.20

If you’re after a more traditional Digimon experience, Cyber Sleuth is the one for you. The localization may be rough, but the story, battles, setting, and evolution – sorry, digivolving – are superb. Plus you get two games in one package for $24.20.

Tactics Ogre Reborn - $29.99

That rumored Final Fantasy Tactics remake hasn’t shown up yet, but Tactics Ogre is the next best thing – maybe even better. It’s a tragic, unforgettable story where your choices have drastically different effects on how events unfold, and you can get this polished remake of the classic Let Us Cling Together for $29.99.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion - $29.99

While you’re waiting for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’ll probably want to catch up with Crisis Core. The prequel to the original game tells the story of Sephiroth’s downfall and how Zack Fair and Cloud came to be connected, and if trailers are anything to go by, that story plays a big role in whatever Square Enix is cooking for the rest of FF7 Remake. It’s on sale for $29.99.
