The beautiful Scots beach with white sands and aquamarine water named one of the best in the UK

Let's face it, Scotland has without a doubt, some of the best beaches in the UK, if not the world.

From the Borders, through the central belt and Highlands, right up to the Shetland Isles, you'll find seaside locations that look like they have been transported straight from the Maldives – though perhaps without the higher temperatures.

And it seems that the influential travel magazine Travel + Leisure agrees.

The New York-based website has picked one of our favourites in the list of the UK's best beaches.

The only surprise is that perhaps more of our incredible sites didn't make the list.

Speaking about their choices, travel writer Luke Abrahams said: "All four nations that make up the U.K. — England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland — have their fair share of beautiful beaches, from charming seaside towns to the most idyllic coves you've ever seen."

And, unsurprisingly, their top choice for Scotland is Scarista Beach on the Isle of Harris.

One of the most famous beaches in Scotland, it's incredibly popular for its white sands, aquamarine waters and truly breathtaking views.

Speaking about Scarista, Luke said: "People far and wide head here to catch a glimpse of the porpoises that call this gorgeous place home.

"One thing to note: As Scarista Beach is way out in the Hebrides, it's incredibly remote. This isn't a bad thing, though, especially if you're a nature lover or introvert partial to the wilderness.

"In fact, it's so out of the way (and special) that there's not even one sign that denotes where it is, but that help keeps this pathway to nirvana protected and virtually free of tourists."

And his top tip for going there?

"Bring your camera".

We agree.
