The Batman movie blunder as Merseytravel bus stop spotted in scene

DC's new movie, The Batman, appears to have suffered from an editing blunder, as one eagle-eyed viewer spotted a Merseytravel bus stop in one scene.

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, was released on March 4 in the UK. Liverpool provided the backdrop for Gotham City, with 75% of production taking place in the city.

In 2020, American filmmaker Matt Reeves, who directed the superhero film said: "One of the things I really wanted to do because it is the centre of this story, especially the history of corruption in the city, was I wanted to present it in a way that was really fleshed out.

"I wanted it to feel like an American city you'd never been to. Let's say there's like a Gotham Square, so that's like Times Square, right, now if we shot it in Times Square then you'd be like I guess Gotham is New York.

"But in our case, it's actually going to be Liverpool and the idea is to go to Liverpool, where there is all the foundation of the Gothic architecture and then add all of the more modern structures through CG.

"But in a way, that when you see the movie, you'll be like: 'Hey where's the city, where did they shoot?' So the aspect of Gotham and realising it has been for me one of the great pleasures in getting to mount the movie."

In October 2020, filming took place at St George's Hall, Anfield Cemetery and the Royal Liver Building. Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell were filmed around St. George's Hall and in the passageway which leads from William Brown Street down into the cells underneath the hall.

But following the film's release, one viewer spotted a hilarious blunder. User @IanSkelly1 saw a Merseytravel bus stop that hadn't been cut from the edit. The bus stop, which appears to be in front of St. George's Hall, is in the right corner of the frame.

Due to its yellow branding, the bus stop is fairly noticeable amid the dark cinematography. Ian tweeted: "If you went to the effort of superimposing a CGI Gotham in the background behind St Georges Hall you would think they would have got rid of the Merseytravel bus stop."

The tweet, which has over 2,000 likes, generated some brilliant responses. User @fagan_music said: "In the director's cut Batman gets the 10a to Kenny after this scene."

User @Harpreetkhara said: "Never know. Batmobile breaks down, he needs a ride."

And @melissaroden_ tweeted: "Lol I like to think that Batman in his early days sometimes took the bus like me, to save him some fuel costs."
