With Bristol city’s house prices continuously rising, commuter towns have become the new alternative for those who want the city life without the hefty price tag. A recent study conducted by money.co.uk a number of commuter towns for Bristol were ranked from 1-10 across many different points, two of them being house and rental prices in each area.
The top of the list as the best commuter town was Weston-Super-Mare. A coastal area that’s more known as a holiday destination has one of the cheapest house and rental markets on the list. The average rental price in the area will cost you around £945 a month while buying could set you back an average of £258,801.
Bath came second on the list, with its beautiful architecture and is surrounded by lush green spaced. But as you might expect, house and rental prices are not the cheapest. For those looking to buy a house here, you will need an average of around £556,881, which is the most expensive house market or you could pay £2,096 a month on a rental property.

The Welsh city of Newport made third on the list and the average house and rental prices aren’t too bad for those looking to get some Welsh air, while still being close to Bristol. You can expect to pay an average of £1,012 a month on a rental property or buying a house will set you back around £213,304.
Yate has one of the cheaper rental markets on Money.co.uk list of commuter towns with the average price of a rental property costing just under a grand a month at £999. The house market, while not the cheapest, is still one of the more reasonable, a house in the area could cost an average of £284,818.

Keynsham, located just 16 minutes from the city, has a relatively pricey rental market with the average price being set at around £1,249 a month. To buy a place is also a costly affair, with an average cost of £331,431.
While some are more expensive than others, all places have their own qualities attracting people to live there, their closeness to Bristol being one of them. These prices are the current average but who knows what’s going to happen in the next year.
