The world’s tallest mobile twin zipline is coming to Weston-super-Mare seafront this summer. The 30-metre high zip wire, the first of its kind, is to set up for the main summer season on the Beach Lawns in front of the Tropicana.
The 300-metre zip wire, known as The Avalancher, will see people reach speeds of up to 50mph before they land on the special ‘landing platform' three metres off the ground. Those wanting a thrill will have climb up The Avalancher tower, fitted with its own snow machine.
The ride is themed to be like an avalanche, with characters such as snowboarders, featured on the ride. The ride is the brainchild of John Wilson who has been working on the design for the last six years.

Although zip wires operate across the world, this is the first which will be ‘mobile’ meaning it can be transported to different locations. It had been hoped to bring The Avalancher to Weston last summer but it was put on hold due to shipping complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The zip wire, fitted with a magnetic braking system, will be able to be used by adults and children but there is likely to be a height and weight restriction. The cost will be £10 per ride, with discounts for multiple rides.
Two people can use the ride, which will be rigorously safety tested, at any one time. Mr Wilson has been running bungee rides for a number of years and has also operated static zip wire rides in places including Singapore and Thailand.
Mr Wilson said: “This is the tallest mobile zip wire in the world and we are very excited to be coming to Weston. Its based on the theme of an avalanche, with riders using the zip wire to escape.
“We want everyone to come along, have some fun and enjoy the ride.” The arrival of the attraction still needs to receive the approval of North Somerset Council.
It is hoped The Avalancher will arrive in early July when construction will start with plans to open from mid-July onwards.
