In a poll conducted by The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Josh Robbins, several questions were answered by players around the league under anonymity.
The 108 players were surveyed on several questions concerning their thoughts on fellow players in the final three weeks of the regular season.
Questions like who is MVP, the most overrated player and the best/worst fans were answered.
For the Oklahoma City Thunder, several players were mentioned in answers. The Thunder (40-42) outperformed expectations; their season ended in a play-in tournament loss.
Let’s look at what roughly one-third of the league thought of the youngest roster in the league. The full results can be read here, which provided an ocean of useful data and a great barometer on how players feel about their colleagues and the league in general.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander:
- Received 2.9% of 102 votes for who is MVP, which ranks fourth
- Received 1.9% of 104 votes for who players would build a roster around from scratch, which ranks 11th
- Received 11.3% of 97 votes for most underrated player of the league, which ranks third
Lu Dort:
- Received 11.4% of 98 votes for the best defender in the league, which ranks second behind Jrue Holiday’s 28.7%
- Received 2.2% of 90 votes for who players would least like to fight, which ranks seventh
Chet Holmgren:
- Received one vote out of 104 for who players would build a team around from scratch
Isaiah Joe:
- Received one vote out of 97 for the most underrated player in the league
Aaron Wiggins:
- Received one vote out of 97 for the most underrated player in the league
Jalen Williams:
- Received one vote out of 97 for the most underrated player in the league
- Received one vote out of 99 for who talks the most trash in the league
Lindy Waters III:
- Received one vote out of 90 for who players would least like to fight
Thunder fans:
- Received 5.8% of 103 votes for which arena has the best fans, which ranks sixth
- Received one vote out of 99 for which arena has the worst fans
Mark Daigneault:
- Received one vote out of 95 for the coach who’d players would like to play for other than their own coach
