The Arsenal loan star who can hand Mikel Arteta a transfer dilemma - and it's not William Saliba

The Europa Conference League semi-finals will provide Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu with an opportunity to do some scouting ahead of the summer transfer window.

Amid interest in Tammy Abraham, the pair can run the rule over the £67m-rated striker to see how he fares after facing English opposition for the first time since leaving Chelsea as AS Roma - managed by Jose Mourinho - face Leicester City who will have another Gunners target Youri Tielemans in their ranks.

In the other semi-final, it's Marseille vs Feyenoord. Of course, much of the attention will be on William Saliba as talks regarding his Arsenal future are fast approaching with football.london reporting the defender's representative is to meet with Edu in the coming weeks.

But whilst the France international can hand Arteta and Edu another reminder that he's ready to be part of the first-team picture next season, he will be coming up against an Arsenal fellow loanee who will have the same mindset. Reiss Nelson is likely to be in the Feyenoord side over two legs and he can serve up somewhat of a transfer dilemma.

It may have been forgotten that Nelson actually featured in the Gunners' opening game of the season as he came on as a second half substitute in the 2-0 loss at Brentford. Although it quickly became apparent that he was not going to be part of Arteta's plans for the rest of the campaign and he subsequently joined the Dutch side on transfer deadline day last summer.

And it's very much been a tale of two halves for the winger since making the switch. The first half of the season was disrupted by injury and fitness issues as it took until December to get his first start for Feyenoord. But since overcoming those issues, the 22-year-old has been using the Europa Conference League, in particular, to remind many of his talents.

Against Partizan Belgrade, he contributed with a goal and assist across both legs and then claimed an assist in the 3-3 draw against Slavia Prague in the quarter-final first-leg. That form has carried over into the Eredivisie with four goal involvements in his last two appearances.

Now, what the future holds for Nelson remains to be seen as football.london understands that he will be assessed during pre-season training with Arsenal, but a summer exit certainly can't be ruled out especially as he will have a year remaining on his contract going into the new campaign.

Another good showing in the Europa Conference League could convince Arteta to hand the Hale End star a chance next season and save the club millions at the same time amid links to another forward in Cody Gakpo, or Nelson's performances could be increasing his value to ensure his parent club command a healthy transfer fee if a decision is made to sell him this summer.
