The Apprentice fans cringe as 'Alan Partridge' contestant blunders video game name

The Apprentice fans were left cringing while watching Thursday’s instalment of The Apprentice, in which candidates were tasked with creating their own computer game.

In the fifth week of the BBC business competition, Lord Sugar summoned the candidates to the entertainment complex Samsung KX in London.

Lord Sugar told the eager hopefuls that for this week’s task they would face the challenge of creating a game demo along with a character for their game, before pitching their concept to a panel of established games investors.

Half of each team oversaw the branding of their new game, while the other half of the team oversaw the design.

The Diverse team decided that they would put their do-gooder hats on and embed a sustainability message into the concept of their game.

The branding team landed on the name ‘Arctic Saviour’ for the game, which would see their character Sam the scientist collect penguins from the snowy landscape.

However, during the branding meeting sub-team leader Francesca Kennedy Wallbank made a dire blunder and misspelt the word ‘Arctic’ in the name of their game - instead writing ‘Artic’.

The game’s logo was mocked up with the misspelling, even after Francesca asked her fellow team members to check if the spelling was correct.

While they double checked the spelling of the word ‘Saviour’, they neglected to do the same with ‘Artic’.

The Apprentice fans were quick to take to Twitter to voice their embarrassment, with one even labelling Francesca “Alan Partridge in disguise” over the blunder.

One wrote: “This contestant, surely Alan Partridge in disguise, needs firing NOW! Nobody spells Arctic, Artic. Give me strength. #TheApprentice”

Even the verified Specsavers account weighed in on the debate, writing: “If you think it’s Artic and not Arctic, we need to talk #TheApprentice”

Another tweeted: “How the heck are these people supposed to be effective business owners when they can’t spell. #artic/#arctic #TheApprentice”

A third said the spelling reminded them of articulated lorries, writing: “Artic Saviour…..save our lorries ! #TheApprentice”

A fourth social media user wrote: “Penguins might not live in the Arctic, but they certainly live in the Artic #TheApprentice”, while another posted: “Penguins.. in the ‘Artic’ how do these people run a business!! #theapprentice”

Another scathing viewer tweeted: “The confidence the contestants on #theapprentice display while saying something unbelievably stupid is mind blowing. “Uh how will anyone know he’s a scientist unless he wears a lab coat?”. In the game “Artic” Saviour”

Another tweeted alongside crying laughing emojis: “Have we spelt Artic Saviour right S.A.V.I.O.U.R yeah ok #TheApprentice”
