Summer is sandal season, and if you’re a girlie who loves to take her weekends from the beach to the bar, you know how important it is to have multiple pairs to choose from. If you’re searching for a replacement pair or looking to invest in a new pair of women’s sandals for the season, you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve used our precious time and work resources to scour the internet for the best women’s sandals. On our hunt, we’ve noticed a few sandal trends for the summer.
Of course, a few summer shoe trends are carrying over from last year, including chunky sandals, elevated thongs and off-duty slides. We’re also noticing the revival of gladiator and fisherman sandals, most of which have trickled down from fashion week.
Let’s check out the best women’s sandals we’ve found for summer 2024.
The best women’s sandals
First up, gladiator sandals from the 2010s are returning after being spotted on the runways at Christian Dior and Alberta Ferretti’s S/S 24 shows back in September. So far, we’ve found a mix of lace-up and more structured high, mid-length, and ankle versions worth considering if you jump back on that OC-era bandwagon.

The best fisherman sandals for summer
Thanks to spring 2024 runways at Loewe, Hermès, and The Row, you can also expect to see Fisherman sandals in the mix, which is excellent if you don’t wanna have the dogs on display. We’ve already spotted a lot of leather classics and have a feeling we’re going to witness the return of those jelly sandals you definitely wore as a ’90s kid. IYKYK.
Only now, you can choose between a classic clear jelly and a more grown-up look. The 2024 version is experimenting with more of that netted/mesh ballet flat style that’s been trending over the last few years.
The Row’s sold-out Mara fishnet PVC ballet flats are the perfect example of the trend. Of course Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion label would create a shoe that perfectly blends modern and nostalgic. While the designer brand is likely out of our summer shoe budget, we’ve found some decent dupes from Ancient Greek Sandals for a fraction of the price — you’re welcome.
The best chunky, pillowy sandals for summer
Outside of that, we’ll see a few trends carry over from last summer, like chunky, pillowy sandals.
The best off-duty rubber slides for summer
Off-duty rubber slides also had a moment last summer, with brands like Nike, Hoka, Crocs, Adidas and Holster dropping some super affordable (and durable) options.
The best thong sandals for summer
The final trend we don’t see going anywhere is elevated thongs. A step up from your usual rubber pluggers, these leather and faux leather thongs are a nice casual alternative but still comfy and cute.
Now, if you’re looking for a beautiful summer dress to go with your new shoes, we’ve got a roundup of the best places to buy them right here.
