The 1975 star Matty Healy causes outrage after being accused of Nazi salute on stage

Singer Matty Healy has sparked outrage after he was being accused of performing an on-stage Nazi salute.

Fans of rockers The 1975 are urging him to clear up any confusion after the concert footage circulated on social media.

Clips shared widely online appears to show the 33-year-old marching and lifting his arm.

Matt, the son Loose Women panellist Denise Welch, 64, and respected actor Tim Healy, 71, has yet to respond.

The supposed salute was performed during the song Love It If We Made It as he belted out the lyric “Thank you, Kanye, very cool".

The frontman is now facing a major backlash after the gig, which came just days after the world paused for Holocaust Memorial Day.

Mirror Online have approached the band's representatives for comment.

But according to The Sun, those close to him maintain he does not have Nazi beliefs and it was a way of mocking Kayne over his anti-Semitic statements.

But that hasn't stopped furious fans demanding an explanation.

One fumed: “Why are ppl tryna defend matty healy doing a Nazi Salute? Are u hearing urself? Don’t do a nazi salute? No matter what? There’s literally no excuse.”

Another tweeted: “Like f****ng hell, doing anything that remotely makes you look like a Nazi, you just stop doing it.”

A third posted online: “This genuinely hurt as a Jewish woman who has loved their music since I was 15.”

The band are due to return to the stage as their UK tour ends in Belfast tonight.

Last month, Kanye West admitted he 'sees good things about Hitler' and that he 'likes' the Nazi leader in his latest anti-Semitic outburst.

The 45-year-old rapper sat down for an interview with right-wing radio host Alex Jones, during which he repeatedly made vile comments praising the dictator.

Kanye, legally known as Ye, wore a bizarre outfit for the interview which featured a black hood used to cover his entire face.

The programme's host attempted to defend the musician, before Kanye insisted that he admired Hitler.

"You’re not Hitler, you’re not a Nazi, so you don’t deserve to be demonised," Alex said before Kanye interjected.

"Well I see good things about Hitler also.

"I love everyone and Jewish people are not going to tell me, 'You can love us and you can love what we're doing to you in the contracts and you can love what we're pushing with the pornography'.

"But this guy that invented highways, invented the very microphone that I use as a musician, 'You can't say out loud that this person ever did anything good'.

"And I'm done with that! I'm done with the classifications. Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler."
