Reading and Leeds Festival has confirmed The 1975 will headline this summer - replacing scheduled headliner Lewis Capaldi after he cancelled all his upcoming shows last month. The band will take to the stage in August to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their self-titled debut album ‘The 1975’.
Frontman Matt Healy, along with his fellow band members Ross MacDonald on bass, Adam Hann on guitar and George Daniel on drums, will be performing the album in full. Fans will be able to enjoy the rare and special performance on Saturday, August 26 at Reading, and Sunday, August 27 at Leeds.
Debuting at number one in the UK Albums Chart in 2013, ‘The 1975’ boasts many fan favourites - including singles Chocolate, Sex, and Robbers. Amongst these tracks are other fan favourites that have rarely been performed live in recent years, such as She Way Out, Settle Down and The City - giving Reading and Leeds Festival fans a unique setlist.
The British pop band took to Instagram last night (July 10) to share the news with followers. Alongside a image of this year's Reading and Leeds Festival poster and a group photo, the quartet wrote: "Reading & Leeds Festival 25th - 27th August 2023. ‘The 1975’ 10th Anniversary Performance. Tickets on sale now."
Many took to the comment section to react. Sxm_lee13 replied: "My peak of happiness." Gtfonatalie said: "Cant believe you’re playing the self titled album and I won’t be there to watch."

Lewis Capaldi was initially due to play at Reading on Saturday, August 26 and Leeds the following day. However, the star postponed all future shows after losing his voice during an emotional set at Glastonbury in June.
Ivor-nominated North London rapper-producer Knucks has also been added to the line-up, promising a masterclass in UK hip-hop featuring tracks of his latest project ‘Alpha Place’. With a string of impressive collaborators from Stormzy to Kojey Radical, the Los Pollos Hermanos’ creator is sure to stir up a storm across the bank holiday weekend, cementing his place as UK rap royalty.
