A budget gin from Aldi has been ranked among the best in the world.
The 'Haysmith's Rhubarb & Ginger Gin', priced at £14.99, beat stiff competition from premium brands to secure the title in the flavoured gin category at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, the Mirror reports. The tasty rhubarb and ginger gin achieved the highest score in the competition and received plenty of praise from the judges.
One described it as: “Magnificently well balanced with full, rich flavours of mouth-watering rhubarb, fiery ginger and chaste juniper.”

The budget retailer picked up a total of 17 awards at the competition, including a gold medal for its Glen Marnoch Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£17.49, 75cl).

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK said: “We are extremely proud to have received the highest possible accolade for our own brand spirits. Now more than ever, we want to show that low prices don’t mean compromising on quality or taste..”
