The full list of nominees for the British Curry Awards have been revealed, and numerous Scottish restaurants will be competing to take home a trophy.
The awards, which are often referred to as the 'Curry Oscars', are a celebration of the UK's best curry houses. The top restaurants across the nation are voted on by the public.
Among the Indian restaurants in Scotland that have been shortlisted for the Best Restaurant Scotland award are Charcoals Indian Restaurant, Madras Cafe, Swadish, Obsession of India, and Mowgli Street Food, all of which are in Glasgow. Other restaurants in with a shot include Dishoom and Chennai’s Marina in Edinburgh, Light of Bengal in Aberdeen, and Carron to Mumbai in Stonehaven.
Rounding out the Scottish nominees are Karma Indian Restaurant in Whitburn and Radhuni in Loanhead. Additionally, Spice Tandoori in Elgin has been shortlisted for the Best Takeaway Award.
The ceremony will be held at Evolution London in Battersea Park on November 28. The event will pay tribute to the founder of the awards, Enam Ali, after he passed away earlier this year.
Director of the British Curry Awards Jeffrey Ali commented: “The British Curry Awards 2022 marks the first year without our Founder, the late Enam Ali MBE. For decades, he tirelessly dedicated his life towards promoting and championing the UK Curry Industry, cementing The British Curry Awards as an 'institution'.
"As the natural custodian of this revered brand, we proudly strive forward with our responsibility to continue his legacy, ensuring The British Curry Awards remain THE platform to inspire future generations to push the boundaries and innovate Britain's favourite cuisine."
