“That group was like a dragster when it burns out – you get a lot of noise, but it doesn't go anywhere”: Bassist Tim Bogert on why Beck, Bogert & Appice fell short despite its all-star lineup

American bassist Tim Bogert (left) and English guitarist Jeff Beck performing with hard rock supergroup Beck, Bogert & Appice at the 'Rock At The Oval' festival, London, 16th September 1972.

Bassist Tim Bogert first came to prominence via Vanilla Fudge’s eponymous debut in 1967. His virtuosic style helped define that band’s sound during a prolific five-album stint that lasted up until 1969.

“Vanilla Fudge were an amazing band,” said Billy Sheehan. “Tim was all over the place on bass – but everything he did worked. He was a huge influence on me.”
