"Thank you to every Greymane": Crimson Desert shows no signs of slowing down, topping over 5 million sales within a month

Key image of Crimson Desert.

Crimson Desert, released on March 19, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC; however, it landed with a mixed reception. Some players love it, others hate it. Here on Windows Central, my colleague Michael Hoglund reviewed it very positively.

With that said, the online discourse around the game clearly wasn’t enough to push people away from this massive open-world exploration game packed with a plethora of systems.

Pearl Abyss, the developers behind the game, announced on X (formerly Twitter) today that it has now sold over 5 million copies.

In the post, they state:#CrimsonDesert has sold through over 5 million copies worldwide! Thank you to every Greymane who has joined us on this journey, experienced the world of Pywel, and supported the game. Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without your support and we are truly grateful.

The game has also maintained a fairly healthy player count on Steam, still pulling in over 100,000 concurrent users during weekdays, and over 200,000 on weekends. That suggests many players are still actively jumping in to explore its deep systems.

I have played the game myself, not as much as I would like, I must admit, but my time with it so far has been fun. If I had more time, I would absolutely jump back in. Someone in my life who has spent far more time with it is my brother. He has already put in over 100 hours since launch and has enjoyed the exploration, and yes, even the story.

It also helps that the developers are keen to listen to community feedback and so far have been fast to respond and implement fan-requested features.

Are you still enjoying Crimson Desert, or have you moved on? The game offers hundreds of hours of content, and, at least according to my brother, he firmly believes it’s a blast.
