Thai Airways to almost double fuel surcharges this week

Thai Airways International will raise its fuel surcharges by nearly 100% on many routes for tickets issued from May 1 onwards to cope with the soaring price of jet fuel.

The airline said on Tuesday that since the Middle East war started two months ago, the price of jet fuel in Asia has risen steadily from US$80 a barrel, peaking at $240. It was trading around $180 last week.
