Transport for London (TfL) has announced they are investigating after footage shared online appeared to show a London Underground worker sharing pro-Palestine stickers.
The video, which as of 10pm on Thursday had racked up almost 200,000 views on X, shows a man approaching a woman at a busy London station.
After claiming he heard her say “Free Palestine”, the woman, who is wearing a TfL uniform, promptly hands the man a sticker, which she says is affiliated with the RMT union and is meant to be placed on windows.
The video has been met with backlash online, with the TfL code of conduct banning the handing out of political material.
The caption on the video, posted by campaigner on antisemitism and extremism Heidi Bachram, reads: “This looks like a member of staff on the London Underground giving out pro-Pal stickers to the public.
“These spaces should not have divisive politics in them. I don’t want to be handed one of these by one of your employees. What is going on @TfL?”
Councillor Susan Hall, Leader of the Conservative group London Assembly in Harrow, wrote: “If this person works for @TfL could it be looked into please.
“If it is a member of staff on duty it is totally unacceptable. Please make sure I get an official answer TFL”.
TfL responded to the video, writing: “We are aware of this video and are investigating the circumstances.
“TfL staff are bound by our code of conduct, which does not allow the wearing or handing out of political material.”
Many users on X were not happy with the response.
One wrote: “What’s there to investigate? Fire them. Send a strong message or it will become a free for all”.
The Standard have approached the RMT union for comment.
