Transport for London (TfL) has extended the Woolwich Ferry’s operating hours, with two boats operating every day of the week.
The free ferry is again transporting passengers across the Thames with a daily service frequency of every 15 minutes.
The Woolwich Ferry, which has been operating since the 14th century, has had its service extended to run between 5am and 9pm. It provides an entirely free transport link for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians with thousands of Londoners using it daily.
A decision to increase the service and improve the timetable was in response to a customer research which showed a demand for longer operating hours. It is also meant to make moving around the capital “easier and more affordable.”
TfL has also doubled the frequency of weekend services, with a two-vessel service now in operation, which it says will work to reduce waiting times.
The ferry is located nearby other transport links, such as the Elizabeth line and the new SL2 Superloop route, which runs an express service between Walthamstow Central and North Woolwich.

“This is just one of the ways the Mayor and TfL are continuing to improve the capital’s river services, which is key to building a better and more efficient London for everyone.”
