Texas Woman Files Wrongful-Death Lawsuit After Husband's Electrocution In Resort

Black women-owned venture capital fund to respond to conservative activist's lawsuit

A Texas woman has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against two Mexican resort travel companies, seeking more than $1 million in damages. The lawsuit stems from an incident where her husband was electrocuted in a hot tub at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Sonora, Mexico.

The lawsuit alleges that the operators of the resort were grossly negligent, leading to the death of Jorge Guillen and injuries to his wife, Lizzette Zambrano. The couple was on vacation at the resort when the tragic incident occurred.

According to the lawsuit, as soon as Guillen entered the hot tub, he was exposed to an electrical current in the water, causing him to collapse and be submerged. Zambrano attempted to rescue him but was also shocked in the process. Bystanders tried to help but were also shocked due to the electrical current.

The lawsuit names vacation rental companies Casago, LLC, Casago International, LLC, and High Desert Travel, Inc. as defendants. Casago LLC expressed devastation over the incident and stated that they are not involved in the management or maintenance of the resort.

A temporary restraining order has been granted to preserve evidence related to the incident, including video footage and communications among the defendants' employees. Zambrano's attorney emphasized the importance of preserving evidence for the case.

The lawsuit describes Guillen as a loving and caring father who provided guidance and support to his family. His untimely death has left Zambrano deprived of his love and companionship.

This tragic incident has raised concerns about safety measures at the resort and the need for accountability to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
