Texas woman accused of stealing $150 from Walmart shows receipt then demands it’s all returned

Accusing a person of stealing is a serious allegation and as such, it’s important to make sure there is adequate evidence to back up the claim lest the wrong person ends up being accused. Unfortunately for one woman on TikTok, she found herself being baselessly blamed for stealing $150 of shopping which she paid for.

In a video posted by TikToker, Tay, she angrily recounts a time she was accused of stealing by an employee at the Walmart she was shopping at. “There’s only ever been one time where somebody’s accused me of stealing after I paid for something,” she explains. She then goes on to elaborate, claiming that the employee asked to see her receipt for the shopping before she left the store.

While some may not consider it an outright accusation, the implication was there. Tay was happy to show the receipt as she knew she hadn’t stolen anything but afterwards she decided to make the employee pay, demanding that they personally return the $150 worth of shopping she had purchased. While the employee tried to protest and claim it was a misunderstanding, Tay wasn’t having any of it, “I just spent $150 in this b—h and you accuse me of stealing.”

Afterwards Tay spoke to the manager and even managed to get a gift card for Walmart by way of apology. Sometimes people in Walmart just need to be humbled.

TikTok commends Tay

While some may think that her reaction was a little over the top, being accused of stealing is not a pleasant experience, especially when there was no evidence to suggest she had. So, she was well within her rights to be angry over the employee’s behavior. “They wanted to be funny so you decided to be hilarious. We approve matching energies here!” read one comment. “This is a reminder that I’m not hating to my full potential,” added another.

Meanwhile, some commenters added their own stories of petty revenge on rude store employees. One person claimed that the same thing happened to them and they did the same as Tay, only after they had made the staff return it all they changed their mind again and made them scan it all through a second time. “I don’t let them see the receipt,” wrote a second person, “I literally just walk away.”

Others think that Tay should have used the gift card she was given to purchase her $150 worth of shopping again, so Tay responded, “Baby I took that gift card right down the road to another Walmart.” Perhaps if stores hired more employees rather than relying on so many self-checkouts we’d see fewer incidents like this. Just goes to show it’s true what they say: “The customer is always right.”
