A Texas man, Timothy Muller, was arrested on Thursday for making threats against an FBI agent involved in the federal investigation into Hunter Biden, according to the Justice Department. Muller, 43, is facing charges of making interstate threats and influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official, which could result in up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
The FBI agent targeted in the threats is reported to be a member of special counsel David Weiss' team investigating President Joe Biden's son. Court documents revealed that Muller left a threatening voicemail for the agent shortly after Hunter Biden was found guilty of three felony gun charges by a Delaware federal jury.
In the voicemail, Muller allegedly threatened to kill the agent and their family, using profanity and making false claims about the 2020 presidential election. He also sent follow-up texts to the agent's phone, further intimidating them with derogatory language and violent threats.
The incident comes amidst a rise in violent threats against Justice Department employees, particularly those involved in high-profile investigations like the one concerning Hunter Biden. Attorney General Merrick Garland recently condemned such threats in a Washington Post op-ed, highlighting the dangers faced by department personnel simply for carrying out their duties.
Muller's actions are seen as part of this troubling trend, with the Justice Department emphasizing the need to protect its staff from baseless and dangerous threats. The case serves as a reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement officials and the importance of upholding the rule of law in the face of intimidation and violence.
