Recently, Texas Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred released a new campaign ad addressing the criticisms leveled against him by Republican opponents regarding transgender policies. This response comes amidst a surge of attacks from rival Republicans, particularly Senator Ted Cruz, and allied GOP groups as the 2024 campaign nears its conclusion.

In the ad, Allred directly confronts the accusations made by Cruz and his supporters, emphasizing his stance on the issue. He clarifies that he does not support boys participating in girls' sports or any other claims made by Cruz. Allred, a father and a Christian, asserts that he believes all children are equal in the eyes of God.

This ad marks a significant move by Allred as the first Democrat this year to address the criticism of transgender policies in a TV spot. The focus on transgender policies has gained prominence in Republican campaigns, including the presidential race and various Senate contests.

Senator Cruz and his allies have launched multiple TV ads targeting Allred in the past month, specifically referencing transgender policies. These ads have collectively cost over $8 million and have accused Allred of failing to support measures that would prevent men from competing in women's sports.

The ads highlight Allred's voting record, pointing out his opposition to bills such as the one that aimed to ban transgender athletes from women's sports in federally funded schools. Additionally, Allred voted against the 'Parents Bill of Rights Act,' which sought to establish parental rights regarding school transgender policies and impose reporting requirements on schools.

Despite the attacks, Allred stands by his decisions and challenges Cruz's record on border security and social security policies. The ongoing exchange underscores the intensity of the Senate race in Texas as both candidates strive to sway voters in the final stretch of the campaign.
