Houston Texans rookie receiver Tank Dell did not dress for the second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins Saturday night at NRG Stadium.
Dell was on the sideline out of uniform throughout the entire 28-3 loss to the Dolphins.
After the game, coach DeMeco Ryans explained that Dell was feeling leg tightness and the team did not want to risk injury by having the third-rounder play against Miami.
Dell also told the Texans Wire’s Brian Barefield that he would have played had the contest been a regular season matchup.
The rest of the Texans’ top tier of their receiving corps suited up against the Dolphins, despite two days of joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Nico Collins caught two passes for 21 yards and Robert Woods had an 11-yard catch.
The Texans will have another set of joint practices next week as they prepare for the New Orleans Saints Aug. 27 at the Caesars Superdome.
