DeMeco Ryans is preparing for his first regular season game as head coach in Houston, and he’ll have a full plate with Lamar Jackson returning to the Ravens lineup.
The first-year head coach will also call the defensive plays for the Texans and was asked about the challenge of facing the dual-threat quarterback.

During his second season as a 49ers’ assistant coach, Ryans witnessed Jackson record 206 total yards and two total touchdowns in a Baltimore win over San Francisco.
“For me, we know Lamar [Jackson] is an athletic quarterback,” Ryans said during a press conference on Monday. “You know he can get loose — causes the defenses a lot of problems because of his athleticism. He also can throw the ball.”
It’ll be on Ryans to prepare his young defense, and they’ll face a Ravens offense that’s been enhanced by the additions of Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers.
