A Londoner has been branded a “moron” after parking his Tesla on a Cornish beach over the Bank Holiday weekend - before getting stuck on the sand.
The incident took place at Tregirls beach in Padstow, Cornwall on Tuesday, as locals and tourists alike flocked to the sunspot amid the UK heatwave.
The white Tesla, which displayed a parking permit for Barnes in London, was driven straight onto the beach in plain sight of stunned witnesses, and stayed there for four hours before the driver attempted to leave.
One beachgoer, from Truro, said that they approached the driver to tell him he couldn't park there, only to be told to “f**k off”.
The witness told CornwallLive: "I said to him that he can't park on the beach in Cornwall. He then asked me to 'f**k off' and said that he can park wherever he feels like.
"He was also shouting at an older lady who told him to move the car from the beach.
"I used to work in St Ives, and local people have so much on their plate, like these farmers who should not waste time on this moron."
She said that, as of 5pm on Tuesday, the driver was still trying to drive the vehicle off the sand with the help of a local farmer.
Tregirls Beach was also the scene of a tragedy just the day before, when a 60-year-old man died.
Emergency responders were called to the beach at around 3.50pm on Monday, where the man was reported to be "suffering cardiac arrest in the sea" after entering the water to try and save two family members, according to police.
The family members were brought to safety by the members of the public, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.
