Tesco shoppers have been rushing to check their receipts after one shopper managed to find a sweet bargain that cost literal pennies.
A thrilled customer took to a popular Facebook group to share how they had managed to snap up an entire shelf of sugar for the total cost of just 6p.
They explained that they had managed to get 12kg of vending sugar after they discovered that they were reduced to just one penny per bag, reports Birmingham Live.
They wrote: "I get a few bargains over my time but I think today's one is the best. 2kg or vending sugar (bit like caster sugar) 1p a bag.
"Yep, 1p. There wasn’t a price on it so I asked the lady at the till. She scanned it and said 'well ... it’s a penny'. I said 'OK thanks', went back and cleared the shelf.
"Only had six bags there but I won’t have to buy sugar for me again this year. Happy days."
The Mirror reported that the shopper also shared a snap of their receipt which proved how they had managed to snap up six 2kg bags of sugar for just 6p.
The sneaky bargain was quickly met with praise from shoppers and bakers alike who say that they would also snap up the deal with how much sugar they go through.
One shopper said: "Awesome bargain, good on you for clearing the shelf, if it saves you money in the long run then why not?"
Another added: "Ooo I’m a baker and this would be amazing! Never even seen this sugar in my Tesco so not holding out much hope that I’ll find it for 1p."
A third added: "I need something like this to happen to me. I go through so much sugar. And it’s only me that’s using it!"
