Tesco shelves emptied of pet food brands after Heinz dispute

Tesco appears to be running low on popular pet food brands made by the manufacturer of Whiskas, Dreamies and Pedigree. It comes just a week after Heinz banned the store from stocking its products.

Now the supermarket appears to be involved in another dispute with a supplier over price rises. Customers were quick to spot the empty shelves noticing Mars Petcare dog food has "disappeared" from Tesco shelves. The supermarket giant was forced to issue a statement which said it had not axed the products. On Tuesday, stocks of Mars Petcare products, which also include brands such as Sheba, were running low in stores and online.

Explaining its stance, Tesco said it will “not pass on unjustifiable price increases to customers”.
