Tesco is urgently recalling batches of frozen peas over fears they are contaminated by an "unknown" type of berry.
The supermarket giant urges anyone who bought the 900g bags of frozen vegetables, sold under its budget Growers Harvest brand, not to eat them and to instead return them to a store.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said in a statement: "These products may contain an unknown type of berry which may make the product unsafe to eat."
It urged those who have bought the affected products: "Do not eat it.
"Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt is required. For further details, please contact Tesco Customer Services directly".
The FSA specified 18 different batches of the peas, with 'before dates' between January and April 2025, that were being recalled by Tesco.
- Best before January 2025 - batches 23196, 23197, 23198, 23199, 23200
- Best before February 2025 - batches 23237, 23238, 23239, 23240
- Best before March 2025 - batches 23256, 23257, 23258, 23259, 23260, 26261
- Best before April 2025 - batches 23275, 23276, 23277
Tesco said the recall was carried out as a precaution after a potential issue was detected by the supplier, which is said to be investigating.
A notice issued by the supermarket said: "Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly".
