Tesco recalls dog food after plastic found in cans

A major supermarket has issued a recall for tins of dog food as they may contain pieces of plastic.

Tesco issued the recall for some cans of Lily's Kitchen Pasta al Ragu after plastic pieces were found in cans, advising customers not to feed them to their pets.

The recall notice concerns 400g tins of the Beef, Oregano & Basil Dog Food with a batch code 5212T9097F, can numbers 27018 to 50268, and an expiration date of July 31, 2027.

Anyone who has bought one of the affected batches have been advised to contact Lily's Kitchen via phone on 0207 433 1863 or email hello@lilyskitchen.co.uk.

Tesco has also told customers they can get in touch with them for further information.

A Lily's Kitchen spokesperson said: “Please be assured that no other products are affected by this voluntary recall.

“Lily's Kitchen has isolated the issue and are confident that they have resolved the matter. Please accept Lily's Kitchen's heartfelt apologies for this inconvenience.”

Lily’s Kitchen is a UK-based natural pet food brand which was acquired by Nestlé Purina PetCare in April 2020.

The dog food is made using natural ingredients including “proper meat and offal” and claims to offer pets “complete nutrition.
