Tesco announces major update as rapid delivery service expanded to 800 stores

Tesco has announced that it plans to expand its speedy Woosh service to 800 extra stores across the country by the end of this month.

First launched 18 months ago, the rapid same-day delivery service by Tesco was also previously expanded into 600 stores April last year.

The UK's largest grocer's service promises a speedier service for last minute online shoppers as it aims to deliver your groceries within 30 minutes to an hour after you order them. It is currently priced at just £2.99, but an extra £2 charge will be added if your overall total does not meet the minimum £5.

It is currently unknown which stores that the service will be rolled out to, but the Whoosh service is available in select stores and you can see if stores near you offer it by checking the store locator tool.

As reported by The Mirror, delivery for the service used to cost £5, but was reduced during the Qatar World Cup last year and has remained so since.

While there is no minimum spend, the selection of products is limited, with the Tesco website showing that only 80 items are available to order through the Whoosh Service.

Some of the items that can currently be bought through the service range from household essentials to groceries, such as toiletries, fruit, vegetables, cupboard staples and more.

Tesco charges anywhere between £3.50 and £7 for a one-off delivery slot depending on the time of your delivery, with an added £4 if your shop is under £40.

It comes after the supermarket chain also launched its "Delivery Saver" options for online shoppers last year, with memberships starting out at less than £3 per month.

These have included the Anytime Click + Collect plan which starts out at just £2.49 a month and it allows shoppers to choose as and when they would like to shop on orders over £25.

The next plan £4.99 for off-peak delivery which includes a £25 minimum for click-and-collect and a £40 minimum basket price for home delivery.

The last deal of the new scheme is the Anytime Delivery Plan that is priced at £7.99 a month with the same minimum spending same day options for both click-and-collect and home delivery.

Tesco's Whoosh service is currently available at select stores across the UK and will be expanded later this month. The Daily Record has reached out to Tesco for further information.
