A fox that attacked a resident outside a home near Bryant Commons Park in Hinesville on September 28 tested positive for rabies the next day, the Liberty County Health Department said. The park sits near the intersection of Highway 84 and General Screven Way. The person who was attacked has been notified and is "currently receiving post-exposure medical care," according to WTOC.
For families in Liberty County, which is home to many military households near Fort Stewart, the case is a reminder that rabies is not only a rural problem. The attack happened in a residential area near a public park, where children play and pets are walked every day.
