Tesco announces major Clubcard change that will impact shoppers next month

Tesco shoppers will soon find that they won't be receiving any Clubcard paper statements or vouchers in the post - unless they specifically ask for it.

The supermarket chain has announced that shoppers will actively have to opt back in for printed coupons following the scheme shake-up in May.

Not all customers will be affected by the change, with Tesco confirming that only regular online users will get the email to notify them, The Mirror reports.

Those who will be affected by the change will have their accumulated points transferred over by email, with a barcode that can be scanned at the checkouts.

It follows in the footsteps of other popular supermarkets - such as Asda, Morrisons and Lidl - who have been launching online loyalty scheme apps for their shoppers.

If you have received an email and want to keep receiving your quarterly Clubcard statement and vouchers by post, you'll need to opt back in online.

You can do this by signing into your MyClubcard account online, clicking on 'statement preferences' and changing it back to 'by post' by May 5.

If you change your preferences after 5 May, you'll receive your May statement and vouchers by email, but will then receive your August statement and vouchers by post.

The shake-up comes amid a store transformation that will see the grocer, the largest in the UK, open 59 new branches over the next 12 months.

It follows the supermarket's decision to shake-up their famed meal deal prices for non Clubcard members back at the end of February.
