Tesco announces changes to online grocery shopping and home delivery from today

From today, Tesco has made a number of changes that will impact its online grocery shoppers.

The supermarket has increased the minimum spend for customers shopping online along with increasing the charge for spending under a certain amount.

From Tuesday, May 2, shoppers will need to spend £50 online for home delivery, rather than the previous £40, although the minimum order fee of £25 for click and collect will stay the same.

It has also increased the charge from £4 to £5 for anyone who spends under the £50 limit.

The price adjustment is the first change Tesco has made to its online pricing in nearly eight years.

In a statement to The Mirror, a Tesco spokesperson said: “To ensure we can continue to serve our online customers as effectively as possible, from May 2 we are making some changes to our minimum basket threshold, the first change we are making in nearly eight years.

"For the vast majority of our customers, there will be no change to the way they shop."

This is not the only change Tesco customers will see over the next few months.

From Wednesday June 14, Tesco's Clubcard points will only be worth twice their amount when shopping with Tesco Reward Partners.

From June, they will only be worth double so those 500 points, £5, will now only be worth £10.

Alongside this, Tesco customers will gain fewer points when they scan their Clubcard while buying petrol.
