#Saints free agent OT Terron Armstead is flying tonight to South Florida and is set to visit the #Dolphins tomorrow, per me and @TomPelissero. One of the top players available in free agency, Armstead would fill a huge need for Miami. ✈️

This storyline just gets more interesting the longer it plays out. Longtime New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead hit free agency as one of the most coveted players eligible to sign with a new team, but things have been surprisingly quiet for the three-time Pro Bowler — until things heated up in a hurry. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday afternoon that Armstead is flying in for a free agent visit with the Miami Dolphins, who have been quietly but consistently linked to him over the last week.
Armstead’s list of suitors thinned out rapidly. The Cincinnati Bengals reached an agreement with free agent right tackle La’el Collins, which would keep Jonah Williams at left tackle. Cincinnati of course was the most obvious (or at least most memetic) option for Armstead, who could play on the left side and flip Williams to right tackle (where he was an All-SEC selection in college at Alabama). With Collins headed for the Bengals, Cincinnati goes off the board for Armstead.
That leaves Miami as his most likely non-New Orleans landing spot. The Jacksonville Jaguars may have made sense but they chose to stick with their starting tandem, issuing the franchise tag to left tackle Cam Robinson and leaving Jawaan Taylor on the right side. Some speculation has linked Armstead to the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, but the only hard reporting has kept him tied to the Dolphins. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reported last week that Armstead was in communication with Miami but wanted to see how the team’s pursuit of Deshaun Watson played out.
