CCTV has captured the heart-wrenching moment security guards save the life of a choking toddler who turned blue.
Niko Nesbeth and his partner Joey Madrigal were working at a petrol station in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, US, on the morning of May 26 when they noticed a distressed mum yelling "who's a doctor?" after the boy started choking.
A bystander quickly gave the mum some water before Niko ran over and immediately called for paramedics who arrived within minutes.
The mum was caught on CCTV quickly throwing her child into the arms of the Marine veteran as she collapsed on the floor in hysterics.
Niko tapped the baby on the back to try and help restore its breathing, according to Jose Peraza, a worker at the petrol station who tried to help console the mum.
He told KTLA: "He was dying, not breathing or anything. So, a couple of security guards, they helped her out.
"My partner told the security guard to hit the little baby on the back."
Niko said he immediately realised the infant needed urgent attention after he reportedly started to turn blue.
"The mother already throws the baby into my arms," said Niko.
'I notice looking at the baby's face the baby was turning blue. I could tell his colours were changing so I knew he was choking and wasn't getting air."
Joey, who had recently joined Covered 6 security, a private company that offers tactical training to its staff, revealed his first instinct was to get help for the toddler as it was time critical.
He told Fox 11: "One thing I've learned through training is that you've got to slow down time; and you've got to realise and just get all the facts and put it all together - because I was pretty much in charge of getting the rescue as fast as possible."
The training helped save the child's life, who was unharmed following the scary incident, he added: 'It was the best feeling to feel that way.
"To assist a community - especially a little child - that's amazing."
The security company have been patrolling the streets of Beverly Hills since December 2021 and work alongside the Beverly Hills Police Department.
They were employed at a time when 81-year-old philanthropist Jacqueline Avant was killed in at her home during a robbery and shooting.
In addition, they were also sought after a crime in Los Angeles spiked during the period of the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020 which left some high-end stores with broken windows and doors.
